Our Mission
The China Festival of Education is dedicated to inspiring and empowering educators from all sectors. Our mission is to provide an inclusive platform for sharing innovative ideas, fostering meaningful discussions, and promoting professional growth in a vibrant, relaxed atmosphere.
We aim to cultivate a community where diverse perspectives are valued, and challenging debates are conducted with respect and professionalism. By bringing together passionate individuals dedicated to enhancing education, we strive to shape the future of learning and teaching.
Our Content
The China Festival of Education, will offer over 300 sessions, each lasting 45 minutes. These sessions range in format from headline keynote speeches in our main auditorium to smaller, hands-on workshops, covering a broad spectrum of topics and ideas.
Our content is divided into three types:
- 论坛活动 – A call for sessions will be issued in November. About half of our content comes from this public application offer, allowing a diverse range of voices to be heard.
- Strands – Alongside our sessions, we will host numerous Festival Strands across both days. These strands are curated in partnership with various organisations from across the education community and take place in dedicated venues.
- 主旨演讲 – Our festival keynotes feature household names, politicians, and major education leaders, providing valuable insights and inspiration.

Our History
The Festival of Education was founded by Wellington College UK in 2010 to create a platform where educators could come together to share ideas. What started as a modest gathering soon grew into a major event in the education calendar, attracting prominent speakers ranging from government ministers to influential commentators and educators.
In 2015, Wellington College China hosted the inaugural China Festival of Education – the first international edition of the Festival to be held outside the UK. Since then, the China Festival of Education has welcomed high-profile speakers from both China and around the world, reaching thousands of educators. Now in its 8th edition, hosted at Wellington College International School Shanghai, the China Festival of Education has become a leading event for educators in China.
In September 2015, EducationScape took responsibility for the future of the UK Festival and has since expanded the event to the USA and Thailand. As publishers of the leading UK educationa newspapers Schools Week and FE Week, EducationScape brought extensive expertise and a fresh perspective to the Festival. Under their stewardship, the event has grown in size, diversity, and impact. In September 2023, EducationScape began working with Wellington College China to shape the future of the China Festival of Education.
The Festival of Education continues to evolve, driven by a passion for enhancing education and a commitment to providing a space where ideas can flourish. Looking to the future, Wellington College and EducationScape remain dedicated to inspiring and empowering educators from all sectors through the Festival of Education.
